#2: Bank on Asia's Demographics
According to a study done by the United Nations, the ratio of workers to retirees in the United States will drop from five-to-one, down to three-to- one. This is something that investors should be very concerned about, because as people retire, they consume less, and take money out of stock market to finance their retirement.
This is not a recipe for economic growth. Currently in the United States, the ratio of workers to retirees is very similar to Japan back in 1990.
Now, I'm not predicting that we're going to see a 70% decline in U.S. stocks over the next 20 to 25 years, but I do think it makes sense to invest in economies where there are a lot of young people. In China, 45% of the population is under 45 years old.
#3: Create Wealth by Investing in Global Natural Resources
There's no doubt that it's been a tough year for the stock market (see also, "Finding the Stock Market Bottom.") Anyone who managed to make money this year made their money from natural resources (in fact, in my Asia Edge portfolio, almost half of the stocks are in natural resources, and that's been propelling our performance this year).
One of our biggest winners is the world's second-biggest fertilizer company, and we are up almost 400% since I recommended it over a year ago. (To get the name of this stock, along with 4 others I have recently recommended to my Asia Edge subscribers, log on to my free investing seminar, "Profit From 21st Century MegaShifts.")
So there you have it: the three most important investment strategies to profit from China's economic emergence. Next month the world will shift its attention to Beijing and the 2008 Olympic Games (to learn more about investment opportunities surrounding the Beijing Olympics, see "Profit From 2008 Olympic Gold.") Don't wait until then to learn all that you can about the extraordinary investment opportunities across Asia. China is certainly the engine of Asia's resurgence, but the investment opportunities in neighboring economies are every bit as good.
In Asia Edge we search for the most extraordinary opportunities in ALL of Asia–not just China. China is certainly the engine of Asia's resurgence, but the opportunities in neighboring economies are often every bit as good!
