Editor

Contact Information

The ideal candidate is a creative writer and editor who will help drive web traffic and potential paying customers to the InvestorPlace family of financial web sites. This involves writing syndicated articles, blog posts and other commentary that inform, entertain and build trust between inpidual investors and various IP advisers. The candidate must be deadline-oriented and able to produce engaging and error-free content while still keeping up with the fast-paced world of Wall Street. In addition to analyzing the news, the candidate must also be able to generate exclusive content that looks behind the headlines to represent our various advisers' unique strategies and perspectives. The content must be topical, timely and most of all, attention-grabbing, but with IPM's unique focus on making the connection between the news and the specific action you should take with your money to capitalize on the news.

Adaptability is a must, since this job can involve writing from different points of view on the same topic, working with internal writers and throwing everything out the window when the market conditions change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write stories, blog posts and other content for syndication partners and InvestorPlace.com
  • Generate new content ideas every day based on what's happening on Wall Street
  • Take complex investing issues and translate them to IPM's users through clear language
  • Work with a suite of investment experts to introduce their stock picks and strategies to prospective subscribers
  • Manage in-house writers to ensure there is always accurate and timely content representing our advisers, InvestorPlace
  • Work with team to maximize the success of backlinks and search engine optimization and to respond to traffic trends
  • Build trust with visitors so they become engaged readers who will continue to rely on InvestorPlace for information
  • Monitor appropriate site traffic metrics to ensure high levels of user engagement on the site
  • Consider the opportunity to leverage 3rd party content and "curate" other peoples stuff
  • Serve as a point of contact for some editorial communications between IPM and syndication partners
  • Stay abreast of content, features, strengths and weaknesses on competitive sites
  • Provide advertising sales-related content and packages (as necessary)

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A knowledge of and a passion for investing and the financial markets
  • A BS/BA in journalism, communications or a related field
  • 3-5 years experience in journalism, marketing or other professional writing
  • Experience writing and managing other writers on deadline
  • The ability to write from different or conflicting points of view
  • Sharp editing skills and a keen eye for errors
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with numbers
  • Knowledge of HTML and SEO a plus
  • Familiarity with Photoshop and Dreamweaver a plus

Editorial Assistant

InvestorPlace Media's Newsletter Publishing Group is looking for an Editorial Assistant.  The ideal candidate will be detail- and deadline-oriented, have 1-2 years editorial experience and excellent persuasive writing, editing and interpersonal skills, and be able to conform to an unpredictable, deadline-driven work environment.  Candidate will be responsible for managing the editorial quality of multiple award-winning investment newsletters and websites, and will have a great opportunity to contribute to an industry leader in the fast-paced world of investment publishing.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, fact-checking, editing, and formatting weekly and monthly opinion publications, web content, e-letters, and marketing pieces
  • Creating and updating special reports and other supplements
  • Independent research and problem-solving
  • Becoming an expert on the content, voice, and audience of multiple publications
  • Tracking and updating investment portfolios via Excel and other software
  • Performing basic financial calculations to verify or update data
  • Answering customer questions regarding editorial content

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, 1-2 years experience preferred
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, usage, and style
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar terminology, topics, and software quickly
  • Superior writing skills, including writing in various styles and voices
  • Willingness to learn about finance and markets
  • Ability to apply math skills and Excel functions to calculate and check basic financial data such as investment returns
  • Knowledge of proofreading symbols and electronic markup (tracking changes)
  • MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint; HTML; Adobe InDesign, Dreamweaver

Job Requirements

Ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years experience working on deadline with excellent writing and interpersonal skills.  Candidate will be responsible for managing the editorial quality of our award-winning investment newsletters and websites, and will have a great opportunity to contribute to an industry leader in the fast-paced would of investment publishing.  In addition to editing reports and marketing materials, the Managing Editor will perform research, and and must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.  There is ongoing interaction with senior investment advisors, financial, marketing and print production staff as well as freelance writers and outside vendors.  The Managing Editor must also represent the company at occasional investment conferences as well as through subscriber correspondence.

Other Qualifications

Knowledge of InDesign helpful but not a requirement.  Good interpersonal skills; effective and persuasive communicator.  Excellent writing and editing skills.  Experience with Dreamweaver and HTML is extremely helpful.

Web Designer

Job Requirements 

The ideal candidate will be a proficient hand coder with clean, organized, and structured HTML and CSS coding skills.  Ability to work under tight time constraints with changing requirements a must!  Outstanding visual design skills and talent for building usable interfaces needed.  Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be extremely thorough and detail oriented with a willingness to tackle and troubleshoot any issue big or small.

Primary Responsibilities

- Creating and coding outbound HTML emails and e-commerce offer pages utilizing best practices for email delivery and Can-Spam compliance
- Design and maintenance of banner ads, buttons and pops
- Creation of various forms of marketing collateral such as reports, white papers, webinar/online seminar frames and graphics, online newsletters, etc.
- Creation of various forms of print material such as newsletter issue fulfillment, direct mail pieces, trade show flyers, etc.
- Troubleshoot and investigate issues on a daily basis
- Locate and coordinate opportunities for process improvement and efficiency

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

- Skilled in use of Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop & Illustrator
- Previous email coding experience preferred
- InDesign and/or Quark knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of Javascript and Flash a plus
