Here is your daily Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) stock news and rumors for Nov. 23, 2010. More chatter about the new iPad newspaper being co-developed by News Corp and Apple today, as rumors of a Dec. 9 media event to debut the publication emerge. Speaking of Apple’s wunderkind tablet, the iOS 4.2 update has finally been released. Finally, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab turns in its first month sales numbers.

News Corp, Apple to Unveil iPad News Publication Dec. 9: Another day, another fresh rumor about The Daily, the new news publication co-developed by News Corp and Apple Inc that will launch exclusively on the iPad in early 2011. Yesterday, reports from Women’s Wear Daily and The Guardian shed new light on the publication, including rumored 99-cent weekly subscriptions and word that Apple’s own engineers were providing support for building The Daily‘s tech. Now, John Gruber of Daring Fireball says that Apple and News Corp are likely holding a media event on Dec. 9 (or the following Thursday) to debut The Daily. Gruber also speculates that debuting alongside The Daily‘s release will be a new recurring billing subscription model that has users that will establish “true recurring submission” payments through the iTunes store.

iOS 4.2 Available for Download: Owners of Apple’s popular mobile devices were starting to wonder if the Cupertino, Calif. company was going to delay the release of their latest update to the iOS mobile operating system into December after missing a number of rumored launch dates. No more. Apple released iOS 4.2 for download yesterday afternoon, introducing a plethora of new features for the new iPod Touch, the iPhone 4, and the company’s ever-popular tablet PC, the iPad, which is seeing the greatest benefit of the new update. iOS 4.2 introduces multitasking to the iPad, letting users adjust numerous audio, visual, and other settings without closing active applications, in addition to folders for grouping apps, and the universal inbox for grouping emails sent to multiple accounts.

The iPad is also getting support for Apple’s Game Center online video game network for multiplayer game support and profile sharing. These are all features on the iPhone in iOS 4.1 whose absence on the iPad up to this point has been a major criticism of the tablet. iOS 4.2 brings AirPlay to all of Apple’s mobile devices, letting users stream music, video, and games from their handset to a nearby television through an Apple TV. New to the iPhone is the new Find My iPhone feature that will allow users to activate their iPhone’s GPS to find it if it’s been lost or stolen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Sales Decent, But Fail to Match iPad: Samsung’s would-be iPad killer is not yet ready to declare the king dead it seems. After one month on the international market, The Korea Herald is reporting that the Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablet PC has sold 600,000 units. Hardly a failure, though not up to the tablet market gold standard set by the iPad this past spring. The iPad sold 1 million units in its first month. This is a much more promising debut than Hewlett Packard’s (NASDAQ: HPQ) Slate 500 tablet, which sold 9,000 units during its first month. (The Slate 500’s performance is tempered by the fact that HP only expected to sell 5,000 units in the device’s first month on shelves.

As of this writing, Anthony Agnello did not own a position in any of the stocks named here.
