Here is your daily Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) stock news and rumors report for Nov. 22, 2010.  More details about News Corp.’s  (NASDAQ: NWS) new Apple iPad news publication as pricing and the pub’s title are revealed by Women’s Wear Daily. Meanwhile, The Guardian sheds light on the depth of Apple’s partnership with News Corp. in the publication’s creation. In other news, a new DigiTimes report is less optimistic about the 2011 tablet PC market than many Wall Street analysts, and the iPad 2 is partially to blame. Finally, the music and video streaming app AirPlay will finally be available to users with an Apple TV this afternoon, when Apple TV 4.1 is made available for download.

Apple Works With News Corp. on iPad-Only Publication: Late last week, News Week’s nebulous iPad-only news publication re-emerged after months of silence when News Corp. Europe and Asia CEO James Murdoch discussed the tablet-specific outlet with investors in Spain. Though Murdoch expressed excitement over the opportunities represented by tablet technology, he did not mention any specific details about the iPad news publication other than that it would be released “soon.” On Sunday, Women’s Wear Daily revealed a wealth of information about the publication, including its title and pricing. The Daily will reportedly launch in early spring and will cost 99 cents per week. Women’s Wear Daily says that Steve Jobs and News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch will appear on stage to announce the publication together. The Guardian, meanwhile, says that News Corp. and Apple’s partnership on The Daily is much deeper than a basic licensing agreement. The British paper says that Apple engineers are actually co-developing The Daily with News Corp.’s New York-based staff for the publication. News Corp. reportedly has a staff of 100  working on The Daily, with former Viacom (NYSE: VIA) head of digital publication Greg Clayman at the helm. Investors who have been following newsprint, magazine and even Web publications’ difficult transitions to the smartphone and tablet market should take great interest in The Daily‘s development and possible success as it could indicate the shape of news media in the coming years.

Fresh iPad 2 Rumors May Weaken iPad 1 Sales: A new report from Taiwanese rumor mill DigiTimes says that the rumors and possible leaks surrounding Apple’s plans for a second-generation iPad may start hurting sales of the original tablet. Given the strong indication that the iPad 2 will ship in early 2011, DigiTimes believes that consumers may hold off on buying the current model during the lucrative holiday season, opting to instead wait for the updated model. Sources from inside Apple’s overseas suppliers believe that the iPad 2 will “seriously weaken” competing tablets from other vendors like Samsung, Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIM), Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) and others. The battle in the iPad market in 2011 won’t just be between the iPad 2 and other tablet manufacturers, but with other tablet operating system developers, particularly Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), which is set to unveil a tablet-specific version of Android early next year. Even with new competition coming though, the DigiTimes report expects a significant drop-off in tablet purchases in the third quarter of 2011 when the hype surrounding the iPad 2, PlayBook and other releases dies down. The report predicts a total of between 45 and 55 million tablets sold across 2011, a sharp contrast to many Wall Street analysts who expect those same sales numbers from Apple’s iPad alone.

New Apple TV Software Update Brings AirPlay Streaming: While iPad, iPhone  and iPod Touch users are still anxiously awaiting iOS 4.2 for its AirPlay wireless video streaming as well as many other features, at least some Apple customers will be able to enjoy the new AirPlay streaming option. The latest software update for the new Apple TV set-top box, Apple TV 4.1, will be available later today. AirPlay lets users stream music and video from iOS devices through the Apple TV for play in a home theater setup. Another feature included updates in Apple TV 4.1 is VoiceOver, an option that will read Apple TV menus out loud for users. There is still no official date set for the release of iOS 4.2.
