The Cloud’s Future is Dark: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says that the move to cloud computing could cause “a lot of horrible problems” in five years, CBS News notes. Wozniak was responding to questions after attending a Washington performance of “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs.” The Apple legend expressed concern that users would lose control of their data and software as they move increasingly to cloud-based storage. Wozniak’s remarks come after technology journalist Matt Honan had his iCloud account hacked over the weekend. Hackers tricked AppleCare representatives into giving them access to his iCloud account and then proceeded to wipe data from his iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air.

A New OS Will Not Stop the PC’s Decline: An analyst at Barclays (NYSE:BCS) says that despite initial enthusiasm for Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 8 operating system, sales of personal computers will continue to decline, AppleInsider notes. Last month, industry research firm IDC said that PC sales had declined 10.6% in the U.S. over the last year. The analyst says that PC sales are being hammered by rising sales of smartphones and tablets, like Apple’s iPad, which sold 17 million units in the last quarter, and that Windows 8’s upcoming launch will result in only a short-term rise in PC shipments. In the long-term, the analyst expects PC sales to continue year-over-year declines.

Genius Ads End: Apple has stopped running the television ads it produced for the London Olympics, CNET notes. The ads featured young people dressed as a Apple Store Genius Bar employees assisting customers with their Apple devices in a variety of situations. The ads were meant to be humorous, but drew complaints from some reviewers who said they painted Apple customers as clueless. Apple says the ads were not pulled as a result of any feedback, but had simply been scheduled for a “first run” during the opening weekend of the games.
