Next iPhone Has Longer Screen, Metal Back: Images of what is purported to be Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) next generation iPhone have emerged showing a longer form with a larger screen and aluminum back, Engadget says. The pictures also suggest that Apple will move the headphone jack to the bottom of the phone from its current location on the top. The purported photos also appear to show a new and smaller dock connector, Engadget says.

Apple Shares to Hit $700 on New iPhone, Updated MacBooks: An analyst at RBC Capital Markets predicts that Apple shares will hit $700 by the end of the year as the company releases its next generation iPhone in the fall and upgrades its popular MacBook line next month, Apple Insider says. The analyst cites the iPhone as Apple’s “flagship product,” noting that iPhones generated 43% of company revenue last year. The analyst also forecasts higher sales for the next generation iPhone compared to sales for the iPhone 4S, Apple Insider notes.

FCC Change Could Boost Apple TV Service: A proposed change to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) definition of “multichannel video programming distributor” could make it easier for Apple to enter the pay TV market, Cult of Mac notes. Traditionally only applied to cable TV operators like Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Tim Warner (NYSE:TWX), the FCC is considering expanding the term to include video streaming providers like Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Hulu. If the FCC adopts the change, Apple could compete directly with other subscription TV service providers, possibly on its own branded TV set, Cult of Mac says.
