Instead of TV, Apple Should Make iHub: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) should develop a portable 32-inch screen with touch, gesture, voice, and iPad control, instead of an Apple-branded TV set, says Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey. The portable TV, which McQuivey dubs the iHub, could be hung on the wall in family rooms and would feature apps like calendars, a video player and photo viewer for family entertainment. The iHub could also offer a camera for FaceTime conversations, making it a natural focal point for families to congregate around and interact with, McQuivey says.

Apple Experimenting With Styluses for iPhones and iPads: Apple has been researching various stylus technologies for use with iPhones and iPads and has filed for patents on haptic and optical input devices, Apple Insider says. The haptic device could provide feedback to users from their device, while the optical device would feature a camera to give the user more control over motion across the touchscreen. Despite past comments from Apple officials dismissive of styluses, the company continues to conduct research into developing stylus-like input devices, Apple Insider notes.

John Malkovich Appears in iPhone 4S/Siri Ads: Veteran actor John Malkovich is the latest high-profile actor to appear in television advertisements touting the abilities of the iPhone 4S voice assistant, Siri, MacRumors notes. Malkovich joins Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel in the Siri-focused ad campaign. The Siri ads featuring celebrities have received high scores from advertising tracking firms, MacRumors says.
