Shortages of 28nm Chips Won’t Delay iPhone 5 Launch: An analyst with Piper Jaffray (NYSE:PJC) says reports of 28nm chip shortages at Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOMwill not affect the anticipated launch of the next-generation iPhone in October, Apple Insider says. Qualcomm chips are used in the current iPhone 4S and newest iPad. The analyst also predicted that the new iPhone will have a larger screen and possibly a metal back, Apple Insider says.

Foxconn Adds $210 Million Production Line for Apple Products: Foxconn is spending $210 million to build a new production facility in the city of Huai’an specifically for Apple products, China Daily reports. The new facility will cover 40,000 square meters and employ more than 35,000. The new plant will produce goods worth between $949 million and $1.1 billion, annually, China Daily says.

Larger iPhone Doesn’t Upset App Developers: App developers are convinced that even if the next generation iPhone has a larger screen, Apple will not “pull an Android” and make designing apps for multiple device screen sizes more difficult, according to GigaOm. The next generation iPhone is expected to debut in October and is widely anticipated to have at least a 4-inch screen, compared to the 3.5-inch screen on all previous iPhones. Developers said they did not expect Apple to change either the aspect ratio or pixel density of the iPhone’s screen, GigaOm said.
