iOS 6 to Include New Apple-Developed 3D Maps: A new 3D mapping system created in-house by Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will debut in iOS 6, 9to5Mac reports. The new maps application is rumored to be quicker and more reliable than Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Maps for iOS devices. Up until now, Apple has controlled maps applications, but relied on Google to provide the backend mapping data. The new maps application features 3D capability provided by C3 Technologies, 9to5Mac says.

Foxconn Making Preparations for Apple-Branded TV: Foxconn head, Terry Guo, says that the company is “making preparations” for a new Apple-branded television set, China Daily reports. Speaking to reporters, Guo said that development and manufacturing on the set had not yet started, but that the company’s recent joint venture with Sharp represents one of the preparations for the new TV set, China Daily says.

Siri Names Lumia 900 as Best Smartphone: Users who ask their iPhone 4S voice assistant which is the “best smartphone ever” are directed toward Nokia‘s (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 900, TheNextWeb reports. Nokia and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows users have gleefully commented on Siri’s unexpected recommendation on various online forums. The odd response from Siri is likely the result of Wolfram Alpha search algorithms that capture recent positive reviews of the Lumia 900, TheNextWeb says.
