Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has hired Silicon Valley celebrity Kevin Rose, the creator of social news website Digg as well as mobile app incubator Milk, according to All Things Digital.

While his startups have gotten lots of buzz over the years, they ultimately have fizzled. For example, Milk created an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone “rate everything” app called Oink, which attracted about 150,000 downloads within the first month of launch. However, it was unable to get any more momentum.

Still, Rose could be a help to Google, especially with its G+ social networking efforts to compete with Facebook. If anything, Rose could be an evangelist for the nascent social networking service. Consider that Rose has extensive experience with compiling engaging content, such as with TechTV and Diggnation.

And let’s face it: G+ is a bit dull and could use some pizzazz.
