While necessary, there isn’t a single person who enjoys having to go through airport security. You know the routine:
Shoes off. Laptop out. Belt and coat on the dirty conveyor belt. Is that X-ray machine scrambling my brand new phone? Great, now I’m late for my flight.
But starting this year, this hassle may be a thing of the past — for some. If you decide to volunteer personal information, are a frequent flyer and/or are enrolled in the Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler programs, you may get an expedited pre-screening experience before traveling.
This expedited program has already been tested at airports in Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Minneapolis for passengers flying American Airlines (PINK:AAMRQ) and Delta (NYSE:DAL). Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK), US Airways (NYSE:LCC) and United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) will participate later in the year.
All passengers will still be subject to random screenings and there are no guarantees to gaining expedited screening privileges, but at least you’ll be able to keep your socks clean.
Have you experienced the express security screening? Let us know about it by leaving a comment.
