Samuel Adams to Craft New Beer Via Facebook

Crowd Craft Project allows fans to decide what tastes best

   

The Boston Beer Company (NYSE:SAM), maker of various specialty and seasonal Sam Adams lagers, such as Winter Lager and Octoberfest, is now leaving it up to its Facebook fans to make their next big brew.

They’ve teamed up with Silicon Valley venture capitalist and former chief evangelist of Apple (NYSE:AAPL), Guy Kawaski, to create the “Crowd Craft Project” — a Facebook application that allows fans of the beer to suggest what they like in a Sam Adams beverage.

Sam Adams currently has over 130,000 fans on their Facebook Page. Up until Feb. 5 they will all be able to use the power of crowdsourcing to decide how Sam Adams should make their next beer — according to the following characteristics: Clarity, color, malt, yeast and hops

The beer will be debuted on March 10 during the annual South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas.
