Here are your Apple news items and rumors for Thursday:

Apple Building Third Corporate Campus: In a bid to make its business operations look more and more like those of a James Bond villain, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to build a third corporate campus. The company currently is constructing its second campus — the “spaceship” facility in Cupertino, Calif., that is shaped like a massive UFO and will house technologists that design popular handheld devices that also look like UFOs. The San Jose Mercury News (via Apple Insider) confirmed that construction on a third facility will begin when the spaceship is completed in 2015. The location of the third campus still is unknown. The spaceship, however, is being built on land that was purchased in part from Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ), so Apple is in effect building a large monument to the trouncing of its rival in the consumer space (at least in terms of mobile devices).

Foxconn Pumping Out iPhone 5s: DigiTimes reported Thursday that one month before Apple is expected to start shipping the latest iteration of the iPhone, its manufacturing partners are ramping up production to meet what is likely to be intense demand. Foxconn is said to be producing 150,000 iPhone 5s per day at the moment, with 5 million to 6 million shipped by the end of September and a total of 22 million shipped by the end of the fourth quarter. Pegatron, which is said to be filling 15% of Apple’s iPhone 5 orders, will begin production of the device in early 2012.

Apple on Warpath in Japan: Having blocked Samsung (PINK:SSNLF) from hocking its Galaxy smartphones and tablets across Europe and Australia, Apple now has targeted the Korean technology company’s business in Japan. A Thursday Reuters report said Apple has filed a suit with the Tokyo District Court claiming that the Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S and Galaxy S II infringe on Apple’s patents related to the iPhone and iPad. In addition to wanting Samsung’s portable devices banned from Japanese retail, Apple also is seeking $1.3 million in damages.
